Filing Tracker

One step at a time. You've got this.

How bankruptcy works in England & Wales

Bankruptcy is a formal insolvency process. You apply online through the GOV.UK adjudicator service, pay a fee of £680, and your application is usually decided within a few weeks. Once made bankrupt, most debts are written off and you are normally discharged after 12 months. An Income Payments Agreement (IPA) may apply for up to 3 years if you have surplus income.

Debtrupt helps you prepare and track the steps — we are not FCA-authorised and don't give regulated debt advice. For free regulated advice, contact StepChange, National Debtline or Citizens Advice.

The filing tracker is a Pro feature

Build your filing record, track the 7-step checklist and monitor the 28-day post-submission window. Just £4.99 a month with Debtrupt Pro.
