Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating a Debtrupt account, accessing any Debtrupt tool, or browsing debtrupt.help, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What Debtrupt is and what it is not

Debtrupt is an online tool that helps UK residents organise and understand their financial position. It is not a regulated debt adviser, an insolvency practitioner, a solicitor, a money advice service or a credit reference agency.

Anything produced by Debtrupt — calculator outputs, drafted letters, statement-of-affairs PDFs, filing checklists or recommendations — is practical guidance only and not legal or financial advice. You should always confirm any decision with a regulated solicitor or a free UK debt charity (StepChange, National Debtline, Citizens Advice) before signing anything.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a UK resident to create an account. Our bankruptcy filing tools are designed for England & Wales; we provide separate guidance notes for Scotland (sequestration) and Northern Ireland, but our automated filing tools do not support those jurisdictions directly. If you are in Scotland or Northern Ireland, please use this app for information only and seek local advice.

4. Your account and your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and any financial records.
  • Keep your password confidential and do not share access to your account.
  • Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • You are responsible for any activity carried out using your account.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Debtrupt to mislead a court, the Insolvency Service, the Official Receiver or any creditor; to harass, threaten or coerce anyone; to upload another person's documents without their consent; or to attempt to identify or contact other Debtrupt users. Violations may result in immediate account suspension.

6. Payments and subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. The current fees and renewal terms are shown on our Pricing page before you subscribe.

You can cancel any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Refunds are issued in line with UK consumer law — if the service is faulty, contact us via the Contact page and we will handle it.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the documents you upload and the information you enter. You grant Debtrupt a non-exclusive licence to process that content solely to provide the service to you. We will not use your personal data to train AI models or sell it to third parties.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, Debtrupt is provided "as is" and we accept no liability for losses arising from decisions you take based on Debtrupt's outputs. Our aggregate liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (for example, death or personal injury caused by negligence).

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time; we will remove your personal data within 30 days, subject to any retention period required by law. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or that we reasonably suspect of fraudulent use.

10. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, except where you have a statutory right to bring a claim in the courts of your habitual residence (for example, if you are a consumer in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings there).

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be highlighted when you next sign in. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you should stop using Debtrupt and delete your account.
